A little introduction..

Hello,

I am a dedicated computer science graduate making a career change from retail into software development. Keen to learn and wanting to collaborate on front-end projects leading towards full stack capabilities.

Recently I have been working on a project using the Django framework. It is a redesign of an existing static business website where a CMS is included to enable the business advocate full control of content creation. Subsequently the content is dynamically rendered if it exists. It is currently un-hosted.

I also have experience in developing tools in .NET aimed at students, including myself, to improve efficiency in assignment execution and support network learning goals.

In another life I've led multiple retail teams, up to 15 members, and strategised with mid and senior leaders to complete retail working goals within tight time and resource constraints.

Skills and familiar software

Main Languages: C# (.NET Core), Java and Python.

Web development: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Main databases: MySQL, SQL Express, and SQLite.

Other: Git and Agile development (practiced in group projects).

Project - Django website redesign 2023

Redesigned an existing static business website to update its design and functionality whilst learning Django. Added value by including separate current and past inventory galleries, news blog, contact forms, FAQ section, testimonial sections, google maps, social media functionality, and ratings/comment’s ability. Built in SQLite3 used for the database, formspree.com used for email services, and honeypot application used instead of reCAPTCHA.

Version 3.1 extends to include content management system functionality utilizing the built in admin system. This provides a business advocate with the ability to change almost all (approx98%) content including headers, titles, link titles and icons, business data, and content. Original content used in the redesign with improvements to grammar, spelling, and image resolution.

Project - Network Configuration Scriptor 2022-23

Designed and implemented a C# .NET Core 3.1 desktop application to create network configuration scripts as text files. They are used with Telnet & TFTP to update network device configuration files, and backup/restore configuration files on a directly connected router and in GNS3. Split into 3 decoupled parts, with the first being able to be used with Packet Tracer. Used GITHUB within IDE for version control. Personally used during the last year of a degree and presented for the final project.

Project - Literature Review Resource 2022

Conceptualised and constructed a C# .NET Core 3.1 desktop application to store and organise module assignments and their respective resources. Includes sections such as notes, references, search, and a link for each resource providing an increased efficiency in assignment construction. Used SQL Express (setup script included) with a section for connection string setup, based on MVP, uses singleton design, and utilizes GITHUB for version control. Personally used during the last year of a degree for module assignments and dissertation.
